Our Toyota
Posted: December 30th, 2009 | Filed under: Australia | Tags: car, toyota | 4 Comments »Yee-hah, today we had our Toyota Yaris 5-door hatchback delivered! Here are just a couple of pictures of it in front of the house. (Click on the images to see a bigger version.)
Yokohama sport tires and the spare one from Dunlop. Dealers were awesome enough to replace old tires with this new set, even though they didn’t have to.
Here’s Kate behind the wheel.
And just another view from the front.
Love it!
By the way, the dealers were kind enough to replace the scratched mirror and paint up minor imperfections — everything on their own and free of charge. On top of that they filled the tank fully upon delivery. That’s what I call a New Year present! Thanks guys!

Alex, congratulations with your new car! Do you feel comfortable with the left-hand traffic in Australia?
Never tried it myselft, but it should definitely take some time to switch your brain
Thanks, man!
Now after a week of daily driving I do feel almost at home with the left-hand side. We’ve bought a car with manual transmission and it added some pepper, but by and large all is good. Kate’s having some minor troubles, but we’ll figure it all with some practice and an instructor.
Roads are MUCH better and on the second day (of solo driving) my GPS navigator brought me to the 100 kmh motor way (poor thing didn’t know I’m a noob). It was a great driving class to me.
A car is indispensable here, and it’s not a luxury at all. People drive very different vehicles ranging from tuna tins to lexuses (closer to the City). Since the level of living is quite high, there’s no point in showing off too much, so they are going practical.
Glad you are still reading my blog.
We must stay in touch. Miss you all, guys.
Manual transmission is a good choice for those who enjoy driving… and “some pepper” is a small tradeoff between control and comfort in comparison with automatic, IMHO
“Ni gvozdya, ni jezla” to you and Kate
I agree. Like it manual so much.
